Who we are...

Associació Calidoscopi is based in Barcelona, Spain. It was created by a group of friends in Barcelona who, after their travels throughout the world, wanted to actively participate in the global movement of International NGOs dedicated to developing opportunities for growth, development and education within underprivileged communities. The Association was founded by Hannah Mccurdy, who- inspired by the time she spent living and working at an NGO in Katmandu, Nepal- decided that she wanted to be able to continue working with NGOs based in foreign countries, but from Barcelona. Associació Calidoscopi collaborates with other organizations, mainly through fundraising and organizing activities designed to make the local population more interested in participating in humanitarian activities and giving them the opportunity to do so through our sister organizations. To date we have mainly worked with The Umbrella Foundation Nepal (www.umbrellanepal.org).

Fundraising activities have included:

* A key deposit/ donation system implemented at BeHostels in Barcelona- which has raised over 10,000 euros to date. 10,000 people donated a euro to the Umbrella Foundation through Associació Calidoscopi- a great contribution to Umbrella's cause and helping them raise the 300+ children who live under their care.

*A bi-lingual English-Catalan Cookbook for sale. This book is made up of 45 recipes- donated by friends of Associació Calidoscopi- and is written in both English and Catalan: bi-lingual cooking for a good cause and a great fundraising success with 200 books sold in just 2 weeks .

But.. this is just the beginning. The collaboration of people like you is our objective for 2011 and we are completely open to suggestions for events, fundraising proposals, and even interested in finding NGOs with which to collaborate throughout the world.
